In 2018, the Banco de la República and the Fondo de Cultura Económica published the Spanish translation of the most recent book by Swiss historian and professor at the University of Geneva, Aline Helg. The first French edition of the book was published in 2016. Helg has excelled in the field of studies on the slave trade in the Atlantic world and the African diaspora, thanks to her books on the Colombian Caribbean and Cuba, as well as her extensive articles published in European, Latin American, and North American journals. Due to the relevance of her arguments and the wealth of literature on which they are based, ¡Nunca más esclavos! (Never Again enslaved people!) is a testament to the author's extensive academic career. The book offers a panoramic view of the experiences of slavery in the Americas through the crucible of the search for freedom as the driving force behind the actions and decisions of enslaved subjects from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
