"Here, nothing strange happens, everything is ordinary". Mail in the military service: the reconstruction of the self

The private mail of Jhon Alex García, a Colombian young man from Cali that made his military service during 1982 in the Military Fort of Tolemaida (Cundinamarca) it is analyzed. The letters, as a documentary typology that obeys certain structural conventions and which John Alex wrote to his family during his placement are a first order testimony to reveal the meaning that encloses a specific writing practice through which a certain subjectivity is configured and strengthens the family fabric.
