MATERNIDADES Y PATERNIDADES AFROCOLOMBIANAS EN CALI Y EL VALLE

Abstract

This article is part of the research project "sexualities and femininities contemporary in black and indigenous women: A generational and ethnic-racial cohort analysis." The research focused in sexualities and the construction of male and female roles, the processes of motherhood and fatherhood from the perspective not only cultural but also articulated to the class ideologies, and production modalities of racism and ethnic discrimination in the context of the coloniality of power. Methodologically we worked from the perspective of intersectionality with the use of categories gender, social class, race and generation, articulating disciplines like sociology, anthropology, history and demographics. This was supported from the qualitative approach in ethnography and life stories, and from the quantitative in demographic data and census.
The text discusses how interprets and lives motherhood black women from two generational cohorts. The purpose is to establish the traditional view of maternity / paternity of African descent groups of northern Cauca, south of Valle and Buenaventura, from the requirements set by the social groups of origin and new experiences and expressions observed in young and adult women, with higher educational levels, around how to assume this role
