Territoriality in the royal mines in the north of the Cauca, 1851-1930

Abstract

The historiographical and investigative pretension of the present study aims at evidencing the historical, social, political and symbolic conditions, typical of the free afro populations ones between 1851-1930 in the spaces of Dominguillo, Quinamayo, Santa Maria, San Antonio, Arrobleda and Gelima located in the north of the Cauca; and which allowed these populations to reinvent social places as a process of re-existence, social and territorial appropriation that they had been building since the eighteenth century. A way of making non-linear history, which breaks the schemas of knowledge and power and inserts us in a critique of discursivity by showing the forms of production of knowledge of the free afro populations to more reliably detail the phenomena of territorial occupation and of the socio-cultural development of the various social groups (free blacks peoples), of these spatialities in a specific historical context. In this sense, it is of interest to make known, based on the findings that resulted from the implementation of a genealogical methodology, socio-historical conditions, which redefined the Afro settlements in north of the Cauca, between 1851- 1930 and allowed the reinvention of spatiality as a process of re-existence, of social, and territorial appropriation. In this way, it is possible to present a reconstruction of the historical memory of the frees blacks peoples whose results are evidenced in the construction of a historicity of free epistemic thought (free enslaved, free of the african diaspora, free owner and not owner and free peasant), which competed spatiality with the owner of the royals mines and the colonial farmers and another novel finding was the location strategy in which it is shown how the free blacks peoples redistributed the territorial property among their fellows to be able to reexist and not disappear as a culture and survive as a social movement.
